Hello, I am Sophie
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat residing in Paris, France.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in our long-term vision. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial few months were demanding— unfamiliar systems, new routines, and rising expectations. Daily tasks felt tougher than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Gradually, routines formed. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built SilentMeadowByte
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in France.
